Iodine (I⁻, IO₃⁻)

What to do when the level is too high?

Risks: coral darkening, excessive algae growth, increased stress on invertebrates.

Measures: gradually reduce iodine dosage, perform regular partial water changes, use activated carbon to speed up elimination (optimal value: 0.06–0.08 mg/L total iodine).

What to do when the level is too low?

Risks: dull tissues, slowed growth, discoloration of tips and growth edges, increased sensitivity to parasites and dinoflagellate invasions.

Measures: controlled dosing via Elementals Trace I (Balling Light Trace 3), distribute the addition (e.g., 73.5 mL of Trace I over 1 day), monitor and adjust to 0.06–0.08 mg/L.
