Very high-capacity biofiltration.
Control of ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates.
Massive biological surface area exceeding 700 m² per liter.
Aerobic and anaerobic bacterial support.
Inert and durable media.
No replacement required.
Unlike plastic bio-media limited to an external surface, Matrix has an internal and external macroporous structure. The pores are specifically sized to host aerobic bacteria on the surface and anaerobic bacteria deeper inside.
This design allows for the simultaneous removal of ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates in a single filter, without requiring very slow flow areas.
Recommended dosage: 250 ml for approximately 200 liters of water.
Compatible with external filters, canister filters, wet/dry filters, and sumps.
No filter bag required in most setups.
Effective at all usual flow rates.
Matrix is completely inert and does not deplete over time. Since bacteria are primarily housed inside the media, it can be rinsed occasionally without significant loss of biological efficiency.
Regular maintenance of the filtration system helps prevent clogging and maintains optimal performance.
To accelerate the establishment of the biofilter, Matrix can be combined with Stability. If there is an increased need for low-flow denitrification, the complementary use of de❊nitrate can be considered.
