Colombo FloraBase Pro Course is a high-end technical nutrient soil, made in Japan, specially designed for planted freshwater aquariums. Its coarse grain size ensures excellent long-term stability while promoting optimal growth of aquatic plants.

The granules of FloraBase Pro Course do not disintegrate and retain their original shape over the long term. This stability guarantees a durable substrate, even in heavily planted or stirred aquariums, while maintaining good water circulation at the soil level.

Nutrient-Rich Substrate for Plants

FloraBase Pro is naturally rich in essential nutrients. Its open structure allows for optimal root development, ensuring efficient nutrient absorption and vigorous growth of aquatic plants.

pH Stabilization and Optimal CO₂ Absorption

FloraBase Pro naturally lowers the pH and stabilizes it around 6. At this value, the naturally present CO₂ in the water is optimally absorbed by the plants, with an absorption rate of about 80%. Beyond this pH, CO₂ absorption decreases rapidly, which can limit plant growth.

Facilitated Start-Up of New Aquariums

At a pH below 7, nitrogen forms mainly as ammonium rather than toxic ammonia. FloraBase Pro thus facilitates the start-up of new aquariums by reducing risks for sensitive inhabitants during the initial phase.

Use Alone or in Combination

FloraBase Pro Course can be used alone as a complete substrate, or in combination with a background nutrient soil like NutriBase, covered with a layer of FloraBase Pro. This flexibility allows the substrate to be adapted to the specific needs of each aquarium.

Ideal for Sensitive Fish and Invertebrates

Many species particularly appreciate the conditions offered by FloraBase Pro. Shrimps and Discus, for example, thrive very well in slightly acidic water around pH 6, making this substrate an excellent choice for specialized tanks.
