Reef Complete is a concentrated ionic calcium blend formulated to maintain calcium at natural seawater concentrations without altering the pH. Calcium and carbonates are essential for the growth of calcifying organisms, and any deficiency can lead to a rapid halt in the development of corals.
Type: ionic liquid calcium supplement.
Volume: 250 ml.
Concentration: 160,000 mg/L.
Impact on pH: none.
Reef Complete provides ionic calcium in a fully soluble and immediately available form. Its formulation also includes magnesium and strontium in proportions suited to typical usage rates, with a Ca:Mg:Sr ratio of 100:5:0.1.
Unlike solutions relying solely on calcium chloride, Reef Complete is formulated at a higher pH to eliminate any potential ammonia present in raw materials, ensuring safe use in reef aquariums.
Calcium is a fundamental element for the growth of coral skeletons, coralline algae, and many invertebrates. A deficiency in calcium or carbonates leads to a halt in calcification, followed by a rapid deterioration in the health of organisms.
For comprehensive management, calcium supplementation should be paired with proper alkalinity maintenance using suitable supplements.
Use 5 ml for 80 L of water, twice a week.
Check calcium levels every two weeks and adjust the amount or frequency as necessary.
Measure calcium levels, then follow the addition scheme until reaching a concentration between 380 and 420 mg/L.
Each dose of 5 ml per 80 L increases calcium by approximately 10 mg/L.
Do not exceed 12.5 ml per 80 L per day.
After determining the rate of calcium consumption, a continuous drip system can be implemented.
The amount to add in the top-up water can be calculated using the following formula: m = v × c ÷ 160, where m is the milliliters to add, v is the aquarium volume in liters, and c is the desired increase in mg/L.
The recommended calcium level is between 380 and 420 mg/L, with alkalinity between 3 and 6 meq/L.
Significant adjustments should be made gradually to avoid shocking corals and invertebrates.
Excess calcium can increase the loss of carbonate alkalinity.
Do not mix directly with a carbonate supplement. It is advisable to space out additions by at least 30 minutes.
Reef Complete contains ionic calcium in the form of calcium chloride, easily detectable by standard calcium test kits.
Reef Complete can be used as the primary calcium supplement. Reef Calcium can be used as a complement for maintenance, while Reef Complete is intended to increase levels when they are insufficient.
There is no need to turn off filtration or the skimmer when adding Reef Complete.
