Reef Complete Seachem is a highly concentrated liquid ionic calcium supplement designed to restore and maintain calcium at natural seawater levels without altering pH. It serves as a primary source of calcium for reef systems.

Role of Calcium in Reefs

Calcium and carbonates are essential for coral growth. In case of deficiency, the growth of corals stops quickly, followed by a degradation of their overall condition.

Reef Complete effectively provides the necessary calcium, complemented by an appropriate supply of carbonates.

Enriched Formulation

Reef Complete also contains magnesium and strontium in proportions corresponding to typical usage rates in reef aquariums, with a Ca:Mg:Sr ratio of 100:5:0.1. This allows simultaneous maintenance of these elements with calcium.

This is a formulated product, not just calcium chloride. Raw calcium chloride may contain ammonia. Reef Complete is prepared at a higher pH to allow the dissipation of ammonia before packaging.

Concentrations and Target Values

Natural seawater has a calcium concentration between 400 and 410 mg/L. In reef aquariums, a recommended range of 380 to 420 mg/L is generally retained.

Dosage Instructions

Beginner

Use 5 ml for 80 L of water twice a week. Check calcium levels every two weeks and adjust the dose or frequency if necessary.

Advanced

Measure calcium, then follow the dosing scheme to achieve a concentration between 380 and 420 mg/L.

A dose of 5 ml for 80 L increases calcium by about 10 mg/L. Do not exceed 12.5 ml for 80 L per day.

Expert

After determining the system's calcium consumption, a continuous drip system can be implemented.

Calculation formula: m = v × c / 160, where m corresponds to the volume of product to add in ml, v to the volume of the aquarium in liters, and c to the desired increase in mg/L.

Example: To increase calcium by 20 mg/L in a 200 L aquarium, add 25 ml to the top-off water.

Use Alone or Combined

Reef Complete can be used alone as a primary source of calcium. The combined use of Reef Calcium can provide an additional organic form, but Reef Complete remains the main solution for increasing calcium levels.

It is not necessary to stop filtration or the protein skimmer when adding Reef Complete. The product is not affected by this equipment.
