The Zebrasoma flavescens surgeonfish, also known as the yellow tang, belongs to the surgeonfish family, characterized by their tails equipped with "scalpels" on each side. Normally, the size of this species varies from 10 to 20 cm in length. As its name suggests, it is entirely yellow in color, with a slender snout and a small mouth. Quite solitary, it can sometimes live in scattered groups near reefs and areas rich in corals.
For quality maintenance, a minimum aquarium size of 600L is recommended, with a temperature range of 23° to 27°. The pH should be between 8.2 and 8.4. Being herbivorous and algae-eating, it helps clean the algae within the aquarium. We advise introducing it last in a community tank as its variable temperament can cause stress for new arrivals. Its care is reserved for experienced aquarists.
