The JBL PROAQUATEST NO3 allows precise determination of nitrate concentration in freshwater and marine aquariums. Nitrates are nitrogen compounds that can promote the growth of unwanted algae when present in excess.
Nitrates serve as a nutrient for algae. A gradual increase in their concentration can lead to an algae bloom and disrupt the aquatic environment. Regular monitoring allows for the detection of any increase before it impacts the aquarium.
Laboratory-type colorimetric test using a comparative system to compensate for the natural coloration of the water and obtain a reliable reading of the result.
The test tubes are filled with the aquarium water to be tested. The reagents are added according to the instructions, and then the test tubes are placed in the comparator. The nitrate value is determined by comparison with the provided color chart.
In both freshwater and newly established marine aquariums, a weekly check is recommended. The test is also advised in case of algae problems.
