Tests Included in the Kit

Marine pH and Alkalinity

The marine pH and alkalinity test uses a specific dye offering a very sharp color transition between pH 8.0 and 8.3, a critical range in reef aquariums. Alkalinity is measured from the same sample, in increments of 0.5 meq/L.

Ammonia

The ammonia test measures total ammonia (NH₃ + NH₄⁺) as well as free ammonia (NH₃), the toxic form for marine organisms. Detection is possible from less than 0.05 mg/L, without significant interference in seawater.

Nitrites and Nitrates

The nitrites and nitrates test allows measuring nitrites down to less than 0.1 mg/L and nitrates down to less than 0.2 mg/L. Values are expressed directly as nitrites and nitrates, facilitating interpretation for reef aquarists.

Measurement Ranges and Precision

Reading System and Ergonomics

The tests are performed on a white opaque test plate with six cavities, allowing for the comparison of multiple samples simultaneously. The sliding color chart with a 5 cm viewing window helps isolate colors and improves reading accuracy.

Reference Sample

The use of the reference sample is not mandatory for performing the tests. However, it allows verification of the kit's proper functioning by replacing the aquarium sample with the provided reference solution.
