Biological Guidelines

Nitrites are highly toxic and should be undetectable in a balanced aquarium. When starting an aquarium, their concentration can temporarily exceed 20 mg/L.

Nitrates are less toxic, but it is generally recommended to keep their concentration below 20 mg/L to preserve the health of fish and invertebrates.

Accuracy and Measurement Ranges

Values are expressed directly in nitrites and nitrates. Conversion to nitrogen can be performed if necessary by dividing the results by 3.3 for nitrites and by 4.4 for nitrates.

Validation with Reference Solution

The use of the reference solution is optional for conducting the tests. However, it allows verification of the kit's proper functioning by replacing the aquarium water sample with the provided reference solution.
