Renew Seachem 250 ml – Phosphate-Free Filter Media

Renew is a high-porosity carbon substitute, specially formulated for aquariums where phosphate release from conventional carbons is a concern. It is perfectly suited for reef, planted, marine, and freshwater aquariums.

Controlled Organic Filtration

Less aggressive than traditional activated carbon, Renew effectively controls dissolved organic matter and submicron particles, while preserving some of the beneficial compounds necessary for fish, corals and plants.

It also helps reduce ammonia, nitrates, and phosphates without causing chemical imbalance.

Recommended Use

Renew is used exactly like conventional activated carbon. It is recommended for systems where efficient organic filtration is desired without excessive removal of useful compounds for the ecosystem.

Dosage and Setup

Use 250 ml of Renew for 120 to 160 liters of water.

For optimal performance, place the media in a high-water-flow area, ideally in a suitable filter bag.

Although Renew is clean, a preliminary rinse before use is advised.

The duration of effectiveness is comparable to that of activated carbon, approximately 4 to 6 weeks depending on the tank's organic load.

Compatibility and Alternatives

Renew may partially remove some medications and proteins. For more complete medication removal, a more aggressive media like MatrixCarbon is recommended.

For targeted removal of heavy metals or copper, the use of CupriSorb is preferred.
