Purigen is a unique macroporous synthetic polymer specifically developed to remove soluble and insoluble organic waste before it is transformed into ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates. Its adsorption capacity far exceeds that of conventional media.
SEACHEM
Very high capacity for removing organic waste.
Indirect control of ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates.
Minimal impact on trace elements.
Significant improvement in water clarity.
Increases oxidation-reduction potential.
Regenerable and durable resin.
Unlike standard ion exchange resins, Purigen is designed to exclusively target nitrogenous organic compounds from fish waste, corals, and plants. It largely ignores simple elements, which limits its impact on the aquarium's chemical balance.
Its macroporous spherical structure offers an extremely high active surface area, far superior to traditional smooth resins.
Rinse before use.
Place in a fine mesh filter bag (180 microns or less).
Install in a high-flow area for optimal efficiency.
Compatible with external filters, cartridge filters, media chambers, and drip filters.
Each 100 ml of Purigen can treat up to approximately 400 liters of water, depending on the organic load, for several months. Exhaustion is visible by a gradual color change to dark brown or black.
Purigen is fully regenerable by soaking in a bleach solution, followed by complete neutralization with a dechlorinator. This process destroys the adsorbed organic materials and restores the media's initial capacity.
Do not reuse if a chlorine smell persists after regeneration.
