Colombo FloraBase Pro Course is a high-end technical nutrient substrate, made in Japan, designed for planted freshwater aquariums. Its coarse granularity (large grains) offers excellent mechanical stability while promoting healthy and sustainable growth of aquatic plants.
The granules of FloraBase Pro Course retain their original shape over time and do not disintegrate. This stability ensures a durable substrate, even in densely planted aquariums, while ensuring good water circulation at the soil level.
FloraBase Pro is naturally rich in essential nutrients. Its open structure promotes optimal development of roots, allowing for effective nutrient absorption and vigorous growth of aquatic plants.
FloraBase Pro naturally lowers the pH and maintains it stable around 6. At this value, the CO₂ naturally present in the water is optimally used by the plants, with an absorption rate close to 80%. When the pH exceeds this value, CO₂ absorption drops rapidly, which can limit plant growth.
At a pH below 7, nitrogen is mainly present in the form of ammonium rather than toxic ammonia. FloraBase Pro thus facilitates the start-up of new aquariums by reducing risks for fish, shrimp, and other sensitive inhabitants.
FloraBase Pro Course can be used alone as a complete substrate, or in combination with a base nutrient soil like NutriBase, covered with a layer of FloraBase Pro. This flexibility allows the soil to be adapted to the specific needs of each aquarium.
Shrimp and Discus, for example, thrive particularly well in slightly acidic water around pH 6. FloraBase Pro is therefore perfectly suited to specialized aquariums hosting these demanding species.
