Koumansetta rainfordi – Biota Captive-Bred Rainford's Goby

Koumansetta rainfordi, commonly known as Rainford's goby, is a small, peaceful, and very aesthetic reef fish. It is distinguished by its elongated pearly white body, adorned with fine longitudinal orange stripes that give it an elegant and natural style. It is perfect for reef aquariums with sandy substrates, where it can fully express its burrowing and peaceful behavior.

Behavior and Utility

This goby spends most of its time near the ground, sifting through the sand in search of microfauna and food. It thus contributes to the natural maintenance of the substrate and contributes to the overall health of the tank's ecosystem. It is peaceful, non-territorial, and perfectly compatible with most invertebrates and corals.

Ethical Breeding by Biota

Biota is a major player in sustainable marine aquaculture. This Koumansetta rainfordi is bred without wild collection in a controlled marine nursery. It is acclimated from the start to inert food and perfectly prepared for life in a reef aquarium. Biota's goal: protect the ocean without exploiting it.

Maintenance Conditions

  • Minimum volume: 80 liters
  • Temperature: 24°C to 26°C
  • pH: 8.0 to 8.4
  • Fine to medium sandy substrate
  • Rocky décor with low hiding places
  • Gentle to moderate water flow

Feeding

  • Small-sized marine pellets
  • Frozen artemia, plankton, mysis
  • Protein powders or enriched with microfauna

This goby feeds on the ground. Therefore, it is important to distribute food in the lower areas of the tank.

Why Choose Koumansetta rainfordi?

  • Fine appearance, orange and white striped
  • Calm fish, ideal for community reef tanks
  • Contributes to sand and substrate maintenance
  • Bred without impact on reefs by Biota
  • Easy to acclimate and feed

Koumansetta rainfordi is an aesthetic, discreet, and useful goby, perfect for aquarists concerned with ethics and ecological stability. Thanks to Biota's expertise, it is available healthy, acclimated, and ready to enrich the life of your reef aquarium.
