The JBL PROAQUATEST Magnesium–Calcium is a laboratory-type test designed to accurately determine calcium and magnesium levels in marine aquariums. These two elements play a fundamental role in the growth of corals and red calcareous algae.

Role of Calcium and Magnesium in Marine Aquariums

Calcium is essential for the formation of the calcareous skeleton of corals. Magnesium contributes to the chemical stability of the water and helps maintain a correct calcium balance. An imbalance between these two parameters can hinder the growth of calcareous organisms.

Drop-based colorimetric test providing reliable and reproducible measurement. The kit combines a calcium test and a magnesium test to obtain an accurate magnesium value by differential calculation.

Measurement Principle

The calcium test is performed first, followed by the magnesium test. The calcium value is then subtracted from the result obtained during the magnesium test. The final result corresponds to the actual magnesium content expressed in mg/L.
