Stenopus hispidus, also known as the red and white banded shrimp, is a very popular species in marine aquariums. Omnivorous and with useful behavior, it acts as a cleaner in reef aquariums, ridding fish of parasites while adding a bright and contrasting visual touch.
This shrimp is distinguished by its alternating red and white bands, as well as its long antennae. In pairs, the male is smaller than the female and its back is slightly darker. Although generally peaceful, it is recommended not to keep multiple pairs in a small tank to avoid territorial tensions.
Recommended minimum volume: 100 liters
Temperature: 24°C to 27°C
Décor: aquarium with many hiding places and a dedicated small cave
Stenopus hispidus can coexist with peaceful fish, provided they are neither too small nor too territorial. It is compatible with most corals and invertebrates, except for other dominant shrimp with whom cohabitation may become tense.

Varying the diet helps to strengthen its longevity and activity.
It may happen that Stenopus hispidus is missing a claw upon arrival. This is common after fishing or transport, but the claw will naturally regrow after a few molts. Our specimens are young, which does not allow for sexual distinction at the time of purchase.
Perfect for those who want an invertebrate that is both useful and spectacular, the Stenopus hispidus shrimp is a safe choice to enrich the life and diversity of your reef aquarium.
