Chromis vanderbilti is a schooling damselfish native to the warm waters of the Indo-Pacific region. Similar in behavior to the Chromis viridis, it is distinguished by a blue-green hue with yellow highlights, giving it an elegant and bright appearance in open water.
This fish naturally evolves in large schools around coral reefs. When it senses a threat, it quickly dives between the branches of corals to protect itself. In an aquarium, it can be kept alone but will fully reveal its natural behavior in a group.
To create a truly peaceful school, it is advisable to introduce at least 5 to 6 individuals. A hierarchy naturally establishes itself, limiting internal tensions. For very spacious aquariums (>5000 L), a school of about twenty individuals is possible.
Chromis vanderbilti is a not very demanding omnivore, very easy to feed and quickly accepting both dry and live food.
