The Tectus fenestratus is a highly valued marine algae-eating snail for its ability to continuously consume algae, both day and night. Active and discreet, it effectively contributes to the natural maintenance of any saltwater aquarium.
An Tireless Cleaning Snail
This algae grazer tackles algae encrusted on glass, live rocks, and the substrate, helping to maintain a clean and balanced aquarium. It is recommended to introduce 5 to 10 individuals for every 100 liters to achieve optimal cleaning.
Compatibility and Precautions
The Tectus fenestratus is harmless to corals, fish, and invertebrates. However, it is not advisable to introduce it into a tank with a large population of Hermit Crabs, which could damage its shell or kill it to use its shell as shelter.
Important acclimation precaution: make sure to never position the snail with the operculum facing down. If an air bubble enters its shell, it could be fatal.
