JBL PROAQUATEST KH – Carbonate Hardness Test for Aquarium

The JBL PROAQUATEST KH allows for simple and precise measurement of carbonate hardness in freshwater and marine aquariums. Only one reagent is needed, making this test particularly quick and reliable.

Main Features

Colorimetric drop test using a single reagent. The result is read by counting the number of drops needed for the sample to change color.

Measurement Principle

The test is based on a progressive colorimetric reaction. The aquarium water initially turns blue, then changes color when the exact KH value is reached.

Instructions for Use

Fill the test tube with 5 ml of aquarium water. Add one drop of the reagent; the water turns blue. Then add the drops one by one, gently shaking until the color changes. The total number of drops corresponds directly to the KH value expressed in German degrees.

Reference Values

In marine aquariums, the recommended carbonate hardness is generally between 7 and 10 German degrees to ensure good pH stability.
