Purigen is a unique macroporous synthetic polymer specifically developed to adsorb soluble and insoluble organic compounds responsible for water pollution. Its capacity far exceeds that of conventional filter media.

Operating Principle

Unlike traditional ion exchange resins, Purigen is specifically designed to target nitrogenous organic waste from fish, corals, and plants. It largely ignores simple elements, preserving the aquarium's chemical balance.

Its macroporous spherical structure gives it an extremely high active surface area, far superior to traditional smooth resins.

Installation and Compatibility

Treatment Capacity

Each 250 ml of Purigen can treat up to 1,000 liters of water, depending on the organic load, for up to six months. Depletion is visible by a gradual darkening of the beads.

Regeneration

Purigen is fully regenerable by soaking in a bleach solution, followed by complete neutralization with a dechlorinator. This process destroys adsorbed organic materials and restores the media's original capacity.

Do not reuse if a chlorine smell is detectable after regeneration.
