The Black Beach Reef Sand from Nature’s Ocean is a black live reef sand composed of natural aragonite collected and packaged in its original environment. Each grain is naturally covered with an active bacterial biofilm, ready to immediately contribute to the aquarium's biological balance.

Natural Bacterial Biofilm

In the marine environment, each grain of sand is covered with a complex biofilm composed of autotrophic and heterotrophic bacteria. Nature’s Ocean’s Bio-Activ Live sand is harvested in a way that preserves this natural biofilm, without artificially adding bacteria.

The bacteria are kept alive through a patented process combined with a patented QX-23™ saltwater enrichment solution, allowing immediate biological activity after introducing the sand into the aquarium.

Quick Start and Biological Stability

This live sand allows for a nearly instant ammonia cycle, without the waiting period associated with bacterial colonization. It helps reduce nitrogenous waste, limits algae growth, and supports maintaining a stable pH suitable for marine and reef aquariums.

Applications and Compatibility

The intermediate grain size of 0.5 to 1.5 mm makes this sand versatile, suitable for most reef configurations, including deep sand beds. It is not recommended for use with undergravel filters.

Recommended Use

It is advised to use at least 1 lb of Bio-Activ Aragonite Live sand per gallon of saltwater. After setup, ensure proper filtration and circulation. During the first month, limit fish introduction to allow for gradual biological stabilization.
