Babylonia sp – Detritivore Bottom Snail for Reef Aquarium

Babylonia sp is a marine snail particularly appreciated in reef aquariums for its efficiency as a detritivore. Larger than the Nassarius, it plays a key role in the biological balance of the aquarium by consuming uneaten food leftovers and organic waste present in the sand.

An Active Sand Cleaner and Amphibious

This gastropod spends most of its time buried under the sand, only coming out to devour the residues left by the fish. Its ability to move under the substrate helps stir sediments and improve soil oxygenation. Completely amphibious, it can stay temporarily out of water without any risk to its health, making it very resistant to water level variations during tank maintenance.

A Peaceful and 100% Reef-Safe Behavior

Babylonia sp is completely harmless to fish, corals, and invertebrates. It simply cleans the bottom of the aquarium, without ever threatening the other tank inhabitants. Its activity focuses on areas rich in detritus, making it a valuable asset for substrate cleanliness.

Maintenance Conditions

  • Minimum recommended volume: 100 liters
  • Temperature: 24°C to 27°C
  • pH: 8.0 to 8.4
  • Substrate: fine to medium sand
  • Compatibility: excellent with fish, corals, and invertebrates

Why Choose Babylonia sp?

  • Very efficient detritivore
  • Cleans food leftovers and sand
  • Discreet behavior, spends a lot of time buried
  • Amphibious and resilient
  • Perfect for reef aquariums of 100 liters and more

Babylonia sp is an ideal choice for those looking for a robust, discreet, and efficient cleaning snail, capable of ensuring natural substrate cleaning while remaining perfectly compatible with a reef environment.
