The Royal Nature Nitrite Professional Test 100T is a colorimetric test designed to measure the concentration of nitrites in marine and reef aquarium water. The results are expressed in PPM and each kit allows for up to 100 tests.
Test type: nitrites.
Number of tests: 100.
Unit of measurement: PPM.
Usage: marine and reef aquarium.
Using the 5 ml syringe, add 5 ml of aquarium water to the test vial.
Add 2 drops of NO2 reagent to the test vial and gently shake for 30 seconds.
Let the solution sit for 5 minutes.
Hold the test vial next to the provided color chart, on a white area, then compare the obtained color with the scale. An intermediate color corresponds to an intermediate nitrite concentration.
The Royal Nature nitrite test is performed in a single step, with only one reagent.
The test measures NO2 levels in the following ranges: 0.1, 0.3, 0.5, 1, 3, and 5.
The nitrite ion NO2 is formed from ammonia during the nitrification process, also known as the nitrogen cycle. Bacteria convert ammonia into nitrite, and then into nitrate through oxidation. This process can take 3 to 4 weeks.
In seawater, NO2 levels should not be detectable by this test. Concentrations higher than 0.05 PPM are considered dangerous and undesirable.
The reading is performed using a finely adjusted color diagram, covering a concentration range from 0.1 to 5 mg/L.
Royal Nature designed this kit to improve the readability and accuracy of results. The colors on the chart are based on analytical studies aimed at matching the average reflection of the human eye, in order to limit the influence of external factors such as ambient lighting or the position of the sample.
For a reliable reading, compare colors under neutral and even lighting.
