Zebrasoma flavescens – Biota Captive-Bred Yellow Tang
Zebrasoma flavescens, commonly known as the yellow tang, is one of the most iconic marine fish in reef aquariums. Its completely yellow elliptical body, immaculate white scalpels, and active behavior make it a popular choice for large reef tanks. This specimen bred by Biota measures between 5 and 7 cm.
An efficient and peaceful grazer
This tang is primarily an active herbivore. It spends its days grazing algae on the rocky decor, contributing to the natural balance of the aquarium. In case of threat or territorial conflict, it can use its caudal scalpels, but it remains generally peaceful and compatible with other reef fish.
Responsible breeding by Biota
This specimen is entirely captive-bred in Biota's facilities, which specialize in sustainable aquaculture. No wild collection is necessary. The fish are acclimated to aquarium life from a young age and fed a varied diet, ensuring optimal long-term health.
Maintenance conditions
- Recommended minimum volume: 400 liters
- Temperature: 24°C to 26°C
- pH: 8.0 to 8.4
- Decor: live rocks, hiding spots, open areas for swimming
- Moderate to strong water flow
The Zebrasoma flavescens enjoys large swimming spaces as well as algae-rich areas to graze. It is not recommended to keep it with other tangs of the same genus in small volumes.
